FIRST AID POLICY

Sports Development for Training and Investment and Alpha (together "Alpha", "Academy", "SDTI", "we", and "us") are fully committed to providing a safe learning environment. Furthermore, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

AIM OF POLICY

This policy aims to establish clear guidelines for administering pediatric first aid at Alpha. Our primary goal is to ensure the safety and well-being of all children involved in our sports programs.

SCOPE

This policy is applicable to all coaches, staff members, volunteers, and parents participating in activities at Alpha.

POLICY STATEMENT

Alpha is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all players. In the event of an injury or medical emergency, prompt and appropriate first aid will be provided to ensure the health of our participants.

FIRST AID TRAINING

STAFF CERTIFICATION: All coaching staff and volunteers are certified in the HSI Pediatric First Aid and CPR. Certification is renewed every two years.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM: A designated team of trained individuals will be established at the beginning of each season to handle medical emergencies.

FIRST AID KITS

AVAILABILITY: First aid kits will be available during all training sessions and games. These kits will include age-appropriate supplies such as bandages, antiseptic wipes, ice packs, and medical tools.

MAINTENENCE: The first aid kits are checked regularly and replenished to ensure they are adequately stocked.

PROCEDURES FOR RESPONDING TO INJURIES

ASSESS THE SITUATION: Evaluating the scene before administering first aid is critical to ensure the safety of everyone present.

ADMINISTER FIRST AID: Provide first aid for minor injuries (like cuts or bruises). For serious injuries (head injuries, fractures), follow emergency response protocols.

CALLING FOR HELP: In serious situations, call emergency services (911) and inform the injured child's parents or guardians.

DOCUMENTATION: All incidents must be recorded in the injury report log, detailing the injury, the treatment given, and follow-up actions.

PARENT/GUARDIAN NOTIFICATION

INFORMING PARENTS: Parents or guardians will be notified of any injuries, regardless of severity, that occur during soccer activities.

EMERGENCY CONTACTS: Parents must provide updated emergency contact information, including primary and alternative contacts.

EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN

ACCESS TO A PHONE: Ensure that a mobile phone or landline is readily accessible during all soccer-related activities.

EMERGENCY SERVICES ACCESS: Communicate and identify the best access routes for emergency responders.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT: Encourage parents to inform staff about any medical conditions or allergies that their children may have.

REVIEW AND TRAINING

ANNUAL REVIEW: The policy will be reviewed annually, with updates made to incorporate current medical guidelines and best practices.

STAFF TRAINING: Regular refresher training sessions on first aid protocols will be held for staff and volunteers to ensure preparedness.

CONCLUSION

The health and safety of our participants are paramount at Alpha. Through this Pediatric First Aid Policy, we aim to provide a safe and supportive environment for all children in our programs.
